Sept. 30, 2010 - At a community meeting in Albuquerque, N.M., President Obama stated, "I'm a Christian bychoice." He said he was not raised in church, but became a Christian later in life.

What drew him to Christianity was "the precepts of Jesus Christ" which spoke to him in terms of the kind of life he would want to lead, he explained.

Obama Is Not a Muslim: But many Americans think he is

Aug. 20, 2010 - According to a new Pew Forum Survey 29 percent of evangelical Christians, believe Obama is a Muslim, but only 27 percent think he is a Christian.

The Pew survey was completed before the President made his statement last Friday supporting the right of Muslims to build an Islamic center near the World Trade Center site in Manhattan.

'Freedom of Worship' Worries

Jun. 23, 2010 - Since the Fort Hood attack, the Obama administration has generally been using the phrase "Freedom of worship" in place of "freedom of religion." According to Nina Shea, director of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, freedom of worship might only mean the right to pray within the confines of a place of worship or to privately.

"It excludes the right to raise your children in your faith; the right to have religious literature; the right to meet with co-religionists; the right to raise funds; the right to ...evangelize, [and] to have religious education or seminary training."

Obama and evangelist Billy Graham share a prayer

Apr. 26, 2010 - At the end of his vacation in North Carolina President Obama visited Billy Graham at Graham's mountainside home. The ailing evangelist gave the President two bibles, one for him and one for the First Lady. Franklin Graham was also there.

"The conversation was very cordial, very nice," the younger Graham said. "When the president got ready to leave, the president prayed for my father, my father prayed for him."

The President went on from there to memorial service for 29 coal miners in West Virginia who were killed in an explosion on April 5.

"The agony of crucifixion amid the cries of thieves. The discovery just three days later that would forever alter our world: that the Son of Man was not to be found in His tomb, and that Jesus Christ was risen."

He added, "And we glory in the promise of redemption in the resurrection."

‘Islam is violent’ says President Obama’s new pastor Carey Cash

Oct. 15, 2009 - More than a year ago President Obama was forced to disown his Chicago pastor,Jeremiah Wright because of Wright's radical theology and rasist views. Since then the President has expressed a fondness for Carey Cash, the navy chaplain at the Camp David presidential retreat, and it appears that the President has heard more sermons by him than any other minister since taking office.

The White House denies that the President has chosen Cash as his new pastor, but he told reporters this summer that Mr Cash “delivers as powerful a sermon as I’ve heard in a while. I really think he’s excellent”.

Now some sources are criticizing Cash for being too evangelistic an for his mistrust of Islam.

In a 2004 book describing his deployment to Iraq the year before, Mr Cash calls Islam violent, a faith that “from its very birth has used the edge of the sword as a means to convert or conquer those with different religious convictions”.

Apr. 22, 2009 - Christian Philosopher John Mark Reynolds explains that American is mostly Christian without being a Christian state. We extol Christian ideals but still allow freedom of religion to all. Because of this freedom, we may disagree with the President's theology and some of his decisions, but he is still our president. Renolds says,

By showing respect and opposition, I am true to my faith while remaining a patriot. Hopefully even this small example of loyal opposition will demonstrate how a nation can contain many different theologies and philosophies while still sharing common space amicably.

Future American Christian Students Uncertain As Obama Signs Stimulus Plan

Feb. 17, 2009 - One of the stipulations of the stimulus plan signed by President Obama today will end Christian activities in some college and university facilities. The rule states:

"No funds awarded under this section may be used for – (3) modernization, renovation, or repair of facilities – (A) used for sectarian instruction or religious worship; or (B) in which a substantial portion of the functions of the facilities are subsumed in a religious mission."

The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) says it will challenge the provision in federal court because it encourages discrimination. ACLJ chief counsel Jay Sekulow said, "This is an unacceptable provision that clearly discriminates against religious organizations that have a legal right to use those facilities."

Conservative Groups Declare Obama's Stimulus Bill a War on Prayer

Feb. 4, 2009 - One provision of the stimulus bill that was passed by the House of Representatives last week is the prohibition of funds used for the "modernization, renovation, or repair" of facilities that allow "sectarian instruction, religious worship or a school or department of divinity."

Republicans in the House opposed the bill unanimously.

"What the government is doing is discriminating against religious viewpoints," said Mathew Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, a Washington-based nonprofit organization that works to advance religious freedom.

The Traditional Values Coalition, issued a statement complaining that President Obama is violating the right to free speech by using his stimulus plan to restrict the exercise of religion in public facilities.

Obama Begins Day with National Prayer Service

Jan 21, 2009 - President Obama will spend part of his first morning in office at the National Prayer Service held in the National Cathedral in Washington D.C.

The invitation-only service, which has followed presidential inaugurals in the United States on and off since George Washington's swearing-in, is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and run from 75 to 90 minutes.

Canon Carol Wade from the staff at the National Cathedral said that the prayers will celebrate diversity and reflect Obama's embrace of religious liberalism. It will include multiple clergy who are not Christian, but at its core it is Christian because that's what reflects Obama's beliefs.

The ceremony is a perfect example of why the separation of church and state is an elite fiction that bears little resemblance to how democracy really works.

Evangelical pastor Rick Warren will offer the invocation. While administering the oath of office, The Chief Justice of the United States will ask Barack Obama to place his hand on the Bible used by Abraham Lincoln at his inauguration. The oath will end with the words “so help me God.”

Christianity and Barack Obama's Inauguration Recently we posted a link to “Seven Reasons Barack Obama is not a Christian.” The article is found on the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission’s website. The writer was alarmed by the fact that the President-elect claims to be a Christian, but he does not accept the Bible’s teaching on important issues like abortion and homosexuality. He has been deeply affected by theological liberalism, postmodernism and liberation theology. We added the link because we share the writer's concerns. However, it is true that a great number of Christians voted for him, even though they knew where he stands on moral issues. The problem is not just with the President-elect, but with the masses in our country that don't understand or follow what the Bible teaches! We can hope that the new president may now be influenced by strong Christians as he faces the great task ahead of him. He has asked Evangelical pastor Rick Warren to offer the invocation at his inauguration, and he plans to take the oath of office with his hand on Abraham Lincoln’s Bible. Wouldn't it be wonderful if he experienced a true conversion to Christ during his presidency like Abraham Lincoln did? We are also instructed to pray for our governmental leaders. Rick Warren to Pray at Inauguration

Dec. 18, 2008 - President-elect Obama has asked evangelical Pastor Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at his inauguration on Jan. 20th. Liberal groups are not pleased with the choice.

Many call Warren a "homophobe" and an "anti-gay bigot" for his opposition to gay marriage. They are particularly upset that he supported California Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage.

Rev. Joseph Lowery, a civil rights icon, will give the benediction.

Nov. 12, 2008 - According to The Times of London President-elect Obama sought out New Hampshire homosexual bishop Vicki Gene Robinson for advice three times during his presidential campaign. The ordination of Robinson has caused a deep rift in the Episcopal/Anglican church. Robinson says that Obama has affirmed to him his "equal civil rights" for homosexuals.

Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, said:

Differences surface in McCain-Obama Christian forum

Aug. 18, 2008 - During the Saddleback Forum, where Presidential canditates Obama and McCain were asked the same questions about faith issues, a sharp difference was noticed on their answers when Pastor Rick Warren asked when life and human rights begin. McCain simply answered, "At conception." But Obama said there was a difference based on how you look at the issue - whether from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective. He added, "Answering that question with specificity is above my pay grade.

Warren asked each candidate what Jesus meant to him. Both gave the essential Christian response that Jesus is the savior who redeems them.

"I think he's deliberately distorting the traditional understanding of the Bible to fit his own worldview, his own confused theology."

Obama has said that Jesus' Sermon on the Mount is "a passage that is so radical that it's doubtful that our own Defense Department would survive its application."

June 14, 2008 - Joseph Farah cites a Chicago Sun-Times interview of Barak Obama four years ago to show that Obama "has no concept of what it means to be a follower of Jesus."

He states, for instance, that he has no idea of what will happen to him when he dies....
He says there are many paths to heaven.
He suggests his eternal destination has something to do with being a "good father."

Farah, who is editor of WorldNetDaily, goes on to clarify that the Bible teaches that being a Christian means accepting Jesus' atoning, sacrificial death on the cross as full, unmerited payment for one's sins.

Chicago Sun-Times columnist Cathleen Falsani interviewed Obama in 2004 for her book, “The God Factor: Inside the Spiritual Lives of Public People." Several of his responses raise doubt that he is a true Christian.

He says he is "rooted in the Christian tradition,” but there are many paths to the same place.

He responded to John 14:6 - where Jesus claimed to be "the way," by saying that all people of faith — Christians, Jews, Muslims, animists, everyone — know the same God.

He says he doesn't believe in Hell, but doesn't know he is going to Heaven either.

Thomas concludes that "One cannot deny central tenets of the Christian faith, including the deity and uniqueness of Christ as the sole mediator between God and Man and be a Christian."

In recorded sermons Wright has strongly condemned the United States for provoking the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks by dropping nuclear weapons on Japan in World War II and supporting Israel since 1947.

Then he turned his Trinity United Church of Christ into an institution that had all the earmarkings of a black separatist congregation.
